About the Foundation
As the non-profit arm of the Portland Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., The Rose City Foundation has established itself within the Portland Metropolitan area as a leading voice of influence to impact the social and systemic changes needed to improve the outcomes and lives of young people in underserved communities.
We recognize that the pressing issues facing our youth and communities in the 21st century can only be solved through a multi-faceted approach that includes mobilizing and leveraging the public sector, effective utilization of social media, implementing innovative ideas, influencing policies that promote positive change, and building alliances with like-minded organizations in all sectors of society who share the same vision and desire to make the world a greater place for all.
HISTORY
Established in 2017 as a non-profit, tax-exempt, publicly supported organization as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code, the Foundation was founded to support the outreach activities of the Portland Alumni Chapter and friends in their communities.
MISSION
At the Rose City Kappa Foundation, our mission is to illuminate pathways to education and uplift our community’s spirits. We are dedicated to empowering students pursuing higher education in Oregon by providing scholarships that open doors to brighter futures. Simultaneously, we extend a helping hand during the holiday season to the Black community in the Portland metro area, ensuring that joy, warmth, and opportunities are shared with all. Together, we forge a more equitable and compassionate society, where educational aspirations are realized, and the holiday spirit touches every heart.
